Your directory lists partners in a default order that you choose in Customizations > Configuration > Directory sorting. Visitors can change the order for themselves with the Sort by menu on the directory page. This article is for vendors.
Who can do this: Admin role · Availability: all directories. The Recommended and Tier sorts are available on request: contact PartnerPage support to turn them on.
Set the default sort
To set the order partners appear in when a visitor opens your directory:
In your directory, go to Customizations > Configuration.
In the Directory sorting card, open Set default sort and choose an option.
Click Save.
You see "Changes saved". Visitors who open the directory from then on see the new order.
Sort options
The following table lists the options in Set default sort.

With Default (random), every visitor gets a fresh random order each time the directory loads, so no partner is always first. The order stays the same while the visitor moves between pages of results.
If tiers or reviews are switched off later, a default sort that depends on them changes back to Default (random).
Rank partners with the recommended sort
The recommended sort lets you decide exactly which partners come first. When recommended sort is on for your directory, the Directory sorting card shows Change recommended sort order. To rank partners:
In Customizations > Configuration, click Change recommended sort order.
On Recommended sort order, drag a partner's row to its place, or use the up and down arrows next to it.
To move a partner to another page of the list, open the three-dot menu on its row and click Move to previous page or Move to next page.
Each change saves straight away, and you see "Entry changed". Partners you haven't ranked appear after the ranked ones. Then choose Recommended in Set default sort and click Save.
What visitors can re-sort
Visitors can re-sort the directory with Sort by. The menu offers Default, Name (A-Z) and Name (Z-A), plus Recommended and the Tier options when those are on for your directory.
When a visitor types in the search box, the order switches to Relevance, the best matches first. Clearing the search returns to your default sort. A visitor's choice is kept in the page address, so a shared link opens in the same order. Common questions
Why does the order change every time I load the directory?
The order changes on each visit because the default sort is Default (random). Choose Name (A-Z), a Tier sort or Recommended for a fixed order.
Can I pin one partner to the top?
To pin a partner to the top, use the recommended sort and rank that partner first, or give it a top tier of its own and sort by Tier. To highlight partners above the list instead, see Feature partners on your directory.
