Matchmaking requests in your directory's sidebar collects the requests visitors send when they want your team to find them the right partner. Your team picks an owner, assigns one or more partners, and closes requests that go nowhere. This article is for vendors who run a directory.
Who can do this: Admin and Manager roles see matchmaking requests; Admins set the owner, assign partners, close, reopen, delete and block senders · Availability: available on request: contact PartnerPage support to turn on matchmaking requests. Assigning partners is a separate option, also available on request.
How a matchmaking request reaches you
A visitor fills in the matchmaking form, "Get matched with the right partner", from the matchmaking card in your directory listing or the matchmaking page of your directory. PartnerPage saves the request in Matchmaking requests with the status New and emails everyone on your team who has New matchmaking form submissions switched on in Notifications. The visitor sees a "Thank you!" page and gets no email.
Find a matchmaking request
The Matchmaking requests list has the views All, New, Assigned and Closed, a search box and the filters Status and Date submitted. When partner assignment is on, the list also shows who each request is Assigned to and the Date assigned. Admins also see each request's Owner.
To download the list, click Export, choose all requests or the ones matching your search and filters, and click Download CSV. The file includes the UTM tags from the link the visitor used, when there were any.
Set an owner
The owner is the person on your team responsible for a matchmaking request.
Open the request.
In the Owner card, choose a team member from Select team member.
The person you pick gets an email that the request was assigned to them, unless they picked themselves. To remove the owner, clear the field.
Assign partners to a matchmaking request
Open a New or Assigned request.
In the Assigned partners card, click Browse, or type a name in Search partners.
Tick each partner you want to send the request to.
Click Done.
What happens next:
Each partner you picked receives the request as a contact request, with the visitor's details and answers. The partner's contacts get the same email as for any contact request, and your team gets the contact request email too, if New contact form submissions is on.
The matchmaking request moves to Assigned, and its Status history shows who assigned it.
In Contact requests, each of these requests shows the Source "Matchmaking request", linking back. Follow the partner's answer and project status there. See Oversee contact requests.
You can add more partners later. A partner can't be removed from a matchmaking request once assigned: to take the work away, close or reassign that partner's contact request instead. See Reassign, close or duplicate a contact request.
Close or reopen a matchmaking request
To close a matchmaking request:
Open a New request.
Click Close request.
Select a reason: No suitable partner, Spam, Duplicate, Customer withdrew, or Other with a Reason detail of up to 500 characters.
If you chose Spam, keep Also block this sender ticked to block the address, or untick it.
Click Close request.
The request moves to Closed and nobody is emailed. To bring it back, open it and click Reopen request: it returns to New, and the Status history keeps the earlier close.
An Assigned request can't be closed, because its contact requests are already with partners. Close those contact requests instead.
Delete a matchmaking request
Open the request.
Click Delete matchmaking request and confirm.
Deleting can't be undone. Contact requests already sent to partners stay in Contact requests.
Block the sender of a matchmaking request
On the Customer details card, click Block sender and confirm. PartnerPage stops creating requests from that address in this directory without telling the sender, and closes their New matchmaking requests, and their contact requests still awaiting a partner, as Spam. Requests already assigned don't change. See Block spam senders.
Common questions
What does the partner see when I assign a matchmaking request?
The partner sees an ordinary contact request in their dashboard, with the visitor's details and answers, and accepts or declines it like any other. The partner doesn't see which other partners received the same request.
What happens if every assigned partner declines?
The matchmaking request stays Assigned. Assign other partners from the Assigned partners card, or duplicate a declined contact request to another partner.
