Team roles and permissions

What the Admin, Manager, Member, Branding and Profile Manager roles (user permissions) can do for vendors and partner companies.

Written by Ali Winberry

This article is for vendors and partners. Every person in a PartnerPage organization has one role, and the role decides what they can see and change in the dashboard. An Admin sets roles in Settings > Team.

Who can do this: Admins change roles · Availability: all organizations

Roles at a glance

When someone creates an organization, they choose "What best describes your business?". The answer decides which roles the organization has.

  • Software company organizations, the usual type for a vendor that runs a directory, have Admin, Manager, Member, Branding and Profile Manager.

  • Service provider organizations, such as agencies, consultants and resellers, have Admin, Branding and Profile Manager.

What each role is for:

  • Admin: everything, including billing, plans, API keys, directory settings and roles.

  • Manager: day-to-day work on partners, contact requests, deal registrations and the team. Managers can open most setup pages but not change them.

  • Member: view-only access to partners and most directory lists.

  • Branding: can't open the directories your company runs or its profiles. To let someone edit your directory's design, give them the Admin role.

  • Profile Manager: only your company's own profiles in other companies' directories. A Profile Manager can't open the directories your company runs.

The Branding role has no access to profiles. Who receives contact request emails also depends on the vendor's Partner contacts list; see Respond to contact requests.

The role a teammate starts with

  • The person who creates an organization is its Admin.

  • An invited person gets the role the Admin picked. A Manager's invitations use the Manager role.

  • In a Service provider organization, invited people join as Profile Manager.

  • A join request approved by an Admin uses the role the Admin picked. Approved by a Manager, or in a Service provider organization, the person joins as Profile Manager.

  • Someone who joins automatically through your email domain gets the Profile Manager role.

Change a role

  1. In Settings > Team, click the person.

  2. Pick a new Role.

  3. Click Save.

You see "Details saved". Only Admins can change roles, only an Admin can make someone an Admin, and nobody can change their own role. See Manage your team.

Common questions

Can a Manager change billing or our plan?

No. A Manager can't see Billing, Plans or Developers. Only Admins can.

Why can't my teammate see our directory?

A teammate with the Profile Manager or Branding role can't open the directories your company runs. Change the teammate's role to Member for view-only access, or to Manager or Admin.

Why can't someone at our company register a deal?

In a Software company organization, only Admins and Managers register deals. In a Service provider organization, Admins and Profile Managers do. The directory owner must also have deal registration switched on.
